Bylaw change proposals for the Special General Meeting of Members Oct. 22

This is a reminder of the Special General Meeting on October 22, regarding provincially required bylaw changes. The meeting will be  at 7pm at The Paul Phillips Hall, 1923 Fernwood Rd.

The FCA of Greater Victoria is incorporated under the Society Act of British Columbia. That Act will cease to exist on November 28, 2018 and any societies registered must transition to the new Societies Act by that date. At this time, The FCA is seeking to amend several bylaws. Members will be asked to vote on the following motion at the meeting:

Motion: “The members approve the filing of the amended bylaws as presented to comply with the requirements to transition its bylaws to the new Societies Act of British Columbia.”

To ensure that members are clear on the changes, here is a comparison document between the expiring bylaws and the proposed changes to be compliant with the new requirements.  The proposed bylaws are here in draft. The existing Constitution is not required by the province to be updated at this time, so we are leaving that as is. The existing Constitution and Bylaws (together in a single document prior to our proposed changes) are here.

We hope to see you there.
