Laurie Rubin – President

Laurie began his career after leaving the Faculty of Law at the University of Manitoba (2 years). Matters relating to public policy and social justice remain among his ongoing passions. Moving into the managing and marketing arenas, Laurie worked with the federal government, the Toronto Board of Education, and Telefilm Canada while simultaneously developing and managing real estate.

20 years ago Laurie moved to Victoria from Toronto where he turned his attention to working exclusively with not-for-profits. The Kidney Foundation, the Fringe Festival, Kaleidoscope Theatre, Citizen Advocacy, Out of the Box Productions, and AIESEC-Victoria were organizations he volunteered for and contracted his services to.

Today, Laurie primarily focuses on providing strategic planning, project management, special event and fund generation coordination.

A lifetime commitment to community betterment and development projects has led Laurie to serve on the Boards of social service, environmental and performing arts organizations (LDA-SVI, LDABC, Oceans Day Festival Society, Theatre Inconnu and the Vining Street Block Party).

Laurie is committed to helping create successful change.
